Fortaleza

View South America 2019/20 on UliS's travel map.

By bus from Salvador to Fortaleza. I had only a short stop there, it is famous for the beaches but the weather was not inviting.
City bus 404 is going via the bus terminal (Rodovaria) to the town center and bus 917 to the beaches east of the center until Beira Mar, but you need first to get a Octopus type payment card available at the arrival level, or in town st some kiosks.

Had a Amazonas Tour, around the Mamori Lake.
The first day was bird watching and Piranhas fishing, and after dinner catching a Kaiman (back in the water after some fotos).
Next morning some more bird watching and seeing a few pink and gray Dolfins, in the afternoon some trecking in the jungle and staying there overnight, some at the fire grilled chicken and sleeping in a hammock.
In the morning coffee and some food and more trecking in the jungle with explanation of some trees and some local medical plants.
In the afternoon visiting some local familie.
The last morning again some Piranhas fishing and cought also a quite big Ray (back to the water as well).
The food was quite good, wifi was available but expensive.
Allmost every day was some rain in the afternoon but not the rest of the day.

Georgetown

By bus and Minibus via Boa Vista, Bonfim and Lethem to Georgetown, Guyana.
large_IMG_20200106_074447.jpg
Getting there was hard work, First the coldest bus i ever had, from Manaus to Boa Vista by Asatur overnight bus. All the other passengers came with blancets and woolen pullovers, had never had a bus (but a train in Malaysia) with airconditioning so overdone. Then a bus to the Bonfim brazilean borderpost and to the guyanan borderpost, changed my money for a good rate and waited until the afternoon until my minibus to Georgetown, Guyana finally left.
large_IMG_20200106_094300.jpglarge_IMG_20200106_150142.jpglarge_IMG_20200106_103648.jpg
On the way there where 4 police checkes, after the first the minibus stopped for 5 hours in a place where one could take a hammock to sleep or stay in the rather cramped minibus. The minibus contiued at 4 in the morning to get at 6 am to a ferry which didn't run in the night.

At the last police check i was asked for a präsent, which i refused, fortunately no negative reaction.
Arrived after 22 hours finally in Georgetown, Guyana.

Paramaribo

By minibus, ferry and again minibus to Paramarbo.
When i arrived in Georgetown, Guyana i had a unpleasant surprise, the Surinam Embassy told me they no longer issue tourist cards, i have to get the tourist card online. I did try to do that but with only a cellphone it was not possible. Went again to the Embassy, was told there If go next morning to the ferry border they might still have some of the old tourist card forms a i might get it there. I did so and after quite some waiting and explaining i got it.
